Pulpotomies

When left untreated, a badly decayed tooth can lead to an infection. Aside from being painful, an infection can cause progressively worse issues, and even more pain.

Think of a Pulpotomy as a “baby root canal” – it’s a way for infected pulp in the tooth to be removed and treated in order to prevent further decay, infection and overall health issues for your child. Most often these issues arise in molars, as they’re used more often for chewing and harder for children to reach when brushing.

The dentist will remove the decayed and infected sections of tooth and pulp, and sterilize the remainder as to prevent further issues. Once sealed, your child will receive a stainless-steel crown to protect the tooth until it’s ready to naturally fall out and make way for a healthy permanent tooth.
