Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Have you heard of getting “laughing gas” when visiting the dentist? That’ nitrous oxide sedation!

We understand that many children do not like visiting the dentist, and may have a hard time receiving the treatments they need as a result. With your expressed consent, we may administer laughing gas to your child as a way to help them relax and feel less pain during their procedure. This form of sedation is administered through a small nosepiece, and will keep your child awake the entire time. Their breathing will be closely monitored the entire time, and an oxygen mask will be provided if there are any irregularities.

Following treatment, the effects of the sedation will wear off quickly and your child may feel nauseous or woozy. Be sure to keep them hydrated to deter any physical sickness, and be mindful that their mouth may be numb if they also received a local anesthetic.
